Brandon Whitley is a Bungie employee, currently working at Bungie as a graphics engineer on Bungie's next project. Although his job title is "graphics engineer," Whitley works primarily in special effects (FX), and is tasked with creating flexible and intuitive systems for FX artists to create things like fire, smoke, explosions, lasers, and other FX. Whitley primarily works with Steve Scott, Bungie's lead FX artist.

Following high school, Whitley attended Pacific Lutheran University, where he graduated magna cum laude in 2003 with a double degree, obtaining two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Computer Science and Music Education and minoring in Mathematics.

Whitley then went on to the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), where he obtained a Master of Science in Computer Science, Graphics and Visualization and graduated with a 4.0 GPA in 2007.

Whitley then began working for Zipper Interactive as a rendering engineer, helping to produce rendering effects for several PS3 titles, including MAG and SOCOM 4. Whitley worked at Zipper Interactive from 2007 until early 2011.

In April 2011, Whitley applied to work at Bungie. Following a longer-than-usual 11-hour interview loop, Whitley was hired as a graphics engineer and has worked at Bungie ever since. Along with Chris Tchou (Fu Man), Whitley developed and maintains an FX system allowing FX artists to easily implement a variety of special effects.
