Halo Nameplates were small emblems next to a player's Gamertag in pre and post-game Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo: Reach lobbies. Nameplate could be unlocked and equipped on Bungie.net by meeting specific requirements.

Nameplates were first introduced in Halo 2 where players who linked their Xbox Live account to their Bungie.net account would make the Bungie.net logo appear on their nameplate. In Halo 3, those with linked Bungie.net accounts could make the Seventh Column appear, and in Halo: Reach, 12 nameplates could be unlocked by meeting specific criteria. Bungie employees also had unique nameplates they could use in each game.

Players could customize their nameplates until March 31, 2012, when Bungie transferred all Halo responsibilities to 343 Industries and their Halo Waypoint website. As a result of this transfer, functionality to alter or unlock nameplates ceased, and players became stuck with whichever nameplate they had equipped at the time of the transfer.
