Marcus Lehto (pronounced /ˈleɪ.toʊ/ ) is a former Bungie art director and creative director who is known as the "father of the Master Chief" and "co-creator of the Halo universe." He started working at Bungie as an artist in 1997 to work on Myth: The Fallen Lords before becoming the art director for Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, and Halo 3. He made contributions for Halo 3: ODST and was the creative director for Halo: Reach. He also helped make art contributions to Destiny.

Trivia[]
Lehto was well-known for placing easter eggs onto in-game models, including his initials on Master Chief's boot, his birthday engraved on the Scorpion tank, and the face that some players discovered behind the mask of the Spartan models in the beta of Halo 3's multiplayer.
