Bungie Community Userscripts were community-created web browser add-ons that altered Bungie.net web pages by overwriting website code with new code. They were written in JavaScript and only affected the user who installed the script.

Background[]

The first, and arguably the most popular userscript, was Coup d'Bungie. In 2008,[1] CAVX released "Coup d'Bungie," a Firefox (eventually, Opera and Chrome were added) script that users on Bungie.net could install through the Greasemonkey extension[2] to "tweak the website." Users could customize their viewing experience and personalize the look of their posts, and customize the looks of another user's posts, locally. Over the years, Coup d'Bungie updated to newer versions with new features, such as altering a user's avatar, title bar color and title, post background, text color, and more.

Eventually, others began created their own userscripts. The number of scripts started becoming an issue in the Community Forum because no other discussion could take place, so Duardo created "Script Central,"[3][4] a thread dedicated to sharing and discussing community-created userscripts. Duardo would update the thread daily, sometimes multiple times per day, trying to highlight the latest script while also keeping an archive of scripts from specific users.

When Bungie.net upgraded to Bungie.next in 2013, community userscripts came to an end (outside of Coup and dark themes) due to to constant updates to the site.

Whenever a new topic gets added to the pinned topics, the background for it will be highlighted in red*, making it clearly visible.
